First Time with ROLI LUMI Keys

So while I have a beautiful KORG KROME-88 Music Workstation with a fully-weighted 88-key keyboard that I got two years ago as part of my “bucket list” to learn and play…

…my ability to play is extremely limited.  I usually rely upon GarageBand or FL STUDIO to play and show off what the KORG can really do!

And so, I got a ROLI LUMI Keys Studio Edition to learn and teach myself how to be proficient on the keyboard.  I’m hoping to practice each night, eventually moving from cascading colors back to reading traditional sheet music as my posture and proficiency improve.

Many years ago, I was proficient in playing the viola, I could read sheet music well, and my favorite piece to play on the viola was Pachelbel Canon in D.  It’s been a few decades since I last picked up and played a viola, and I never learned how to play to keyboard despite my sincere desire to.  So, this is my continued foray into better my music ability and desire to become proficient on the keyboard. 😆✌

First Day with the Korg KROME-88

After cleaning up (somewhat), moving my Altec Lansing speakers and subwoofer to act as studio monitors for the KORG KROME-88, and moving my LG soundbar to act as audio for the desktop.

I love how the KROME sounds and plays. It’ll easily consume many weeks (months? years?) as I learn to become proficient in keyboard playing.

…and yeah, I seriously need to clean up all of the cabling underneath using conduit cable sleeves.

Excited to get my first KORG Keyboard

KORG KROME-88 synthesizer keyboard and workstation

Saw that my KORG KROME-88 shipped from Atlanta, GA, last night and should arrive here tomorrow. I’ll be shipping my Yamaha PRS-E443 back as a trade-in.

Victoria is already teasing me about keeping a synthesizer keyboard at my office desk. She asked if I was going to be playing on it while waiting for servers to build or during my downtime while working in DevOps.

Yes. Yes I am. 😁

If you hear “Phantom of the Opera” or “Carmina Burana” playing from a majestic pipe organ in our office… that would be me. 😉😆
